Deal or no deal

August 15th, 2024

Ok, let us see if we can analyze on the whole situation in Gaza/Israel.

You must commend Mr. Blinken for his amazing engagement in the conflict, trying with all that he has got, to try and find a deal. That is just amazing statesmanship.

Actually I was quite sure I would get the Nobel peace prize, yet Mr. Blinken almost beat me there. It does not matter, what matters is to stop this conflict. So recognition of an amazing work is good for all, me Blinken. Well done Anthony.

If we look at the trends behind the scene. At one hand the American leadership has used its political capital it has with the Iranian leadership, to push for a deal.

That is ALSO a bold move. It has costs in relation to our strength in the Middle East. Yet if it means, that we reach peace, the political sacrifice, will be more than worth it.

On the Israeli side, there is great worry and trepidation. We worry.

Yet, there is so much pressure on Mr. Netanyahu that he NEEDS to find some deal he can make with Mr. Smotrich to make peace.

So Mr. Smotrich needs to name his price, and Mr. Netanyahu needs to pay.

It will be very costly. Yet also here, the price Netanyahu will pay will be small in comparison to the catastrophe that is the inevitable outcome of a deal that is falling apart.

In other words, the pressure on Mr. Netanyahu is so strong right now, that he has very little wriggle room.

My advise; take the deal Benyamin, yet make sure, that YOU get all the credit. In this way, it will balance out the mistakes that were made to begin with in the war.

Take the credit, and you have ramped up so much political capital, that you will REMAIN PM after the war.

See?

G-d bless the will to find peace and may Israel prevail.
