In the process of the shift of guards at the seat of Peter, there is a profound feeling of loss and grief.
I can feel it in my own life. I have been grieving the last two days.
Thinking of what Mr. Bergoglio gave to the papal office.
He was, essentially, just a good man. He REALLY bled for those who had little. Trying to give a hand to those who were caught in the death spiral of lack of money, dependence of the system, and the nightmare of seeing your life falling apart and the endless fight for the most basic in existence. A roof to put over your head and the strength of friendship and family.
These things he really understood.
He may have been a bit radical in his views, something that was an irritation to the more conservative. But he was just such a profoundly good man. That, that goodness was what really mattered.
He was a true friend of those who had nothing or little.
With all the richness of the church, being that humble person, really gave the Catholic Church a reboot to many people. He was a pope of the people.
G-d bless the will to remember his eminence Pope Francis as the reformist he was, putting focus on those who have the least. I hope your voyage is fine, my friend.
