All right, are there any parallels, historically, to the security situation in Israel.

There is one, actually. Maybe the best documented in Roman history; the Punic wars.

It’s from there the idiom; si vis pacem, para bellum, comes from.

Which means, if you want to have peace, you have to be prepared for war.

It’s kind of the opposite idea of pacifism, that holds the idea, that in order to have peace, we all just lay down our arms.

Let me explain, these are real world experiences from the Roman republic, that is today represented by the Roman church.

So, the Roman’s were expanding, slowly but surely. They were competing with the other super power, the Carthaginians.

The Carthaginians send generals to Italy to fight the Romans, Hamilcar “Thunderbolt”, and Hannibal Barca.

There was a certain senator; Cato the elder who always ended all his speeches with the following proverb;

“Ceterum censeo Carthaginem esse delendam”

In English;

“Furthermore, I am of the opinion that Carthage must be destroyed.”

In other words, if we are not prepared, war will come. This is also shared with the scouts;

“Be prepared”.

Point again being, if you are not prepared, war will come.

Where were we before the 7’th October? Dancing in the Negev, putting our defenses down, I was doing green change and working on green fuel. TOTALLY unprepared for the 7’th October.

I am taking responsibility here, it was as much my fault as Netanyahus, more my fault actually.

So this is a very important experience for us, NEVER put our guards down, and we will be safe; Always prepared.
