The world has become a new place, in terms of politics.
The left has won in the US, but the republicans are still head of the state.
The “left” in Israel (compared to most other countries, left in Israel is really right) has won the power in Israel, it seems.
So, what does this mean, if we put as a logical premise, that the left will have the power in Israel (it’s still not decided 100%).
It will have some positive ramifications for the Iran/Israel stand off. A lot more flexibility will be in the stance of Israel. Netanyahu was more agressive than both the IDF and the Mossad in the Iran conflict, so Eisenkot will be more flexible.
To me, that is a positive. I am not saying, that we should do anything specific, just that more flexibility is a good thing.
In Israel the conflicts in Gaza, east Jerusalem and the West Bank has an opening in terms of securing a deal.
Luckily for the potential Eisenkot government, Netanyahu got the hostages home. Which will be his claim to fame, if his service ends here. So that conflict has been resolved.
But the conflict itself with Hamas and the rest of the Palestinian Arabs are still in full swing.
Maybe the Arab parties in the Knesset, will be able to play some kind of mediating role here. But it still remains to be seen.
So very little has essentially changed domestically. It is up to the skill of Eisenkot to make some changes here.
Mr. Netanyahu is extremely skilled in this area, so there are some huge shoes to fit.
It comes down to Eisenkots political competence. Will he be able to solve the conflicts?
He is untested, so we will see. I hope for the best, and, for the sake of Israel, stand by any new government.
I do however support one thing, that Mr. Eisenkot was elected on; more diplomacy. That essentially means, that my job will be easier.
G-d bless the survival of Israel.
