Friendship

On the subject of friendship. Aristotle say that you have friends for three reasons. As young man or woman, you have friends for joy and banter. Going out and enjoying yourself.

As you get older you start having friends for purpose. You do things together and serve each others purpose. These friends can be elevated and are important in life.

Yet as you grow older and start solidifying as a man, or a woman, for a few select of us, we start to have friends whom you share a coming ethical goal with.

These are supposed to be the most rare and valuable friends.

It’s right.

For some time I have worked in my little TV station; TV care. Where we give voice to people who are caught in the system. Especially those who have lost their children to the municipality. It’s one of those debilitating and inhuman things that is going on in many countries. Some who are the bottom of the society looses their children to the municipality.

Their stories are extremely heartbreaking.

So TV Care shares their story and try to help them.

Around TV Care is a number of amazing people. Jørn Herkild, a former officer turned supporter. His brain is like a razor. And he helps those no one else can. Living in an island, so he is well protected.

Klaus Kløvedahl, a sailor turned helper. He works for free, most of the time, helping people almost destroyed by the system.

That man has so much integrity that being his friend is a true badge of honor.

Heidi Svanborg. She has dedicated her life to fight pedophilia, and does so, to the best of her ability. Living as a stranger in her town, because she speaks a truth no one else dares hearing.

All of these people, are just extremely amazing.

Moving with them is a bit like living in a fairy tale. Walking amongst ethical giants.

It’s a rare treat. And it’s what life is about. Being a good man.

It’s hard here on the fringes of society, fighting corruption. But it is with a band of amazing people.

That lesson is right. Aristotle was right. Having friends sharing a mission of righteousness and good, is the most fulfilling and honorable.

G-d bless the will of good men, and may we make a better world, according to the ideas of Aristotle.
