There is something that really bothers me in the debate on the Kharg island. We CAN take the island, but why. Why do we need that island.
The objective of the energy game is the control the DISTRIBUTION of oil in the strait of Hormuz l. That is, in practice, make sure, that we are the ones who make the boats come from a to b.
This in effect is a close combat knife fight between the marine, the small boats the Iranians have left, artillery and rockets the Iranians can shoot from the shore and small arms fire from the shore. Plus mines.
There a numerous ports that ships oil out into the Hormuz, why is then important to focus on the PORTS when it’s the TRANSPORT that we seek to control.
If we focus on the TRANSPORTS, we remain much more flexible and we retain the superiority of air and marine weaponry.
WHEN we figure out how to support the oil tankers from a to b, the WE control the Hormuz.
Kharg Island is the biggest Iranian port, but there are numerous other ports further down the strait, and it’s because of the control of the TRAFFIC that Iran has power right now.
G-d bless the best applicable strategy in a knife fight of a war. We CAN do it.
