Kingship

Okay, so I just finished a very interesting course on the Kabbalah with the local Chabad. It was amazing, philosophical and so on.

I know that many religious Jews are critical towards Kabbalism, and with reason.

However, when you start to understand the basis of Kabbalism and what it carries, it can have merit.

Let me explain.

Kabbalism (Jewish mysticism) has a central construction of ideas called the Kabbalistic tree.

It’s an ancient tool of ethics and spiritual development. In its essence it is a tool of ethical balance. Claiming that on one side you have severity and at the other hand you have mercy.

At the top and at the bottom there is the tool of royalty. So royalty is the balancer in a sense.

The implications of this realization is that for the balance between war and peace, severity and mercy, freedom and responsibility you need royalty.

G-d is the king in the heavens, and he does not care much for democracy. He is the spawn of royalty.

It makes sense, if you see it in the light of where one g-d was originally from, that of Egypt.

Egypt is the mother of royalty. The pharaoh was a king. So all kingdoms spur from that original source.

This again reflects back on Israel. Why are we the chosen people, because we have a special relationship to g-d. And g-d wants a king. For him, Israel is not a democracy. It’s a kingdom.

So that is why he is so focused on getting a king to the throne of Israel, because there is an intimate connection between one g-d and a king.

It is fused into the tree of Kabbalah, and probably it will be as the lord wishes. He seems to be pretty focused on it.

The tree of Kabbalah holds deep wisdom and since royalty is infused in it, it could be a theological outset of the debates he wishes to have, when I come to Israel.

At least it’s a starting point.

G-d bless the creator and may he have his will.
