I fought and defeated the Iranians the last time we had a confrontation under Obama.
So this is my experience with the Iranians.
First of all, they are smart, flexible and ethical, in the sense that they want respect and recognition, and can be talked with.
I wanted to continue the Arab spring to include Iran, but Barack wanted a deal. So we made a deal. But they were brought to the table through the chess game I fought with Ahmadinejad.
So, based on that experience, my assessment is, that we should not underestimate the Iranians. They are REALLY good at strategy.
Being flexible and adapt to the situation is really important.
This is not the same as doing all my ideas, there are a lot of wise and seasoned generals in the mix.
My point is, we need to be smart about the deployment of troops and the hows and what.
Also, we need to able to change strategy as the war continues.
If we keep doing the same things, we will be less effective than if we adapt to the situation as it unfolds.
