I have thought quite a lot about the ethical content of the guidance by the l-rd I have had, and then real life reality.
Like my own reality. I have been hunted by the secret service for almost two decades, and now I am the one hunting them.
What is the ethical content of that.
It comes back to a virtue that is overlooked, the virtue of mercy.
You show mercy, when you are holding all the cards, and CAN destroy someone else’s life og property.
Not attacking when you are hardpressed and fighting for your survival is just cowardly, but not attacking when you could, is mercy.
In other words, there is a balance of power at hand. A REAL WORLD power balance we need to talk about.
Instead of retaliation, endlessly. Retaliating stops when one side is stronger than the other.
The strategic going back and forth is war, but stopping a blow, when it is not necessary is mercy.
Having mercy brings honor and respect. It shows, that you actually do have a human heart.
Hopefully we end up in a situation where showing mercy can be applied to the war. Because right now, no one is showing any kind of mercy, and I think that shows the moral decay in the war.
It’s important that we do not loose our ability to show mercy.
G-d bless the will of the creator and may we have a humane heart in the midst of the suffering.
