Alliances

Well, the election is over, and the negotiations are at foot.

First of all; congratulations all. It seems to be a good election, some loosers, but also a lot of winners.

One of the main discussions, and a discussion I truly hope will end somewhere near my own work is the balance between military action and diplomacy.

So far, it’s been only military action with very little eye to diplomacy. It has been the antithesis to the camp David agreement, where we gave ground for peace.

Now, I am DEFINITELY not saying that we need to go back to the camp David perspective. I am arguing for a BALANCED perspective, where we mix military with diplomacy.

It essentially means, that we listen to what our allies want, and negotiate.

Our stance in the world is at an all time low. It’s never been so bad before. I can do more diplomatic wizardry, or high level diplomatic work, as with the Carlson debate.

But if it is only from a rhetoric point of view, and it does not carry any real world implications, then it will be over pretty soon.

Before the war, our very strong alliance with the right wing of the West was manifested with as many Magen Davids as there were Union jacks when the nationalists marched. Now there are very few Magen Davids.

Our alliance is weakened.

This is very important, because this is very much the drive behind the current republican administration.

We can just prepare for a world with no alliances. But seriously?

So I really hope, that the new administration will be more pro diplomacy and support my work.

G-d bless the future of Isreal, Am Israel Chai!
