Deal

I think the basic problem with the current discussion on the Gaza peace process is the fact that we still have not solved the problem of “the day after”.

The Knesset stance is quite simple; no power to the PA. Knesset does not want a state in Gaza. Why? Because a state can rearm, and start sending rockets over the fence.

It is not really a problem. Hamas are Sunnis, and we are moving to a good cooperation of the Sunnis. So the conflict is solved by making a deal with the leaders of the Sunnis. This again goes over, making a connection between the royalty of Israel with the royalty of the house of Saud.

The house of David friends with the house of Saud, is a peacekeeping force.

Yet the facts on the ground still need to be solved.

So, there is an option for a compromise. That is a communal government that has control over SOME of the arms of the state, but not all. Essentially, one needs to subtract the ability of the PA to control arms in a major way, but still have freedom to chart its own course.

That is really the balance we need to find, to put the ink on the final deal.

Hamas is open, for a deal, so is Netanyahu, due to the new constellation of his government. So the opportunity is there, it is essentially about trying to figure out a way for the Palestinian Arabs to be free, WITHOUT posing a detrimental threat to Israel.

Focus on that in the dealmaking, and you have a path forward.

G-d bless the will to find peace in the Middle East.
