All right, so I guess this will be a traveling blog, for as long as I am traveling in Israel.

I had this amazing encounter, standing in the queue in the airport to Israel. Surrounded by Israelis. Then a clear sign from G-d appeared.

I met two, you are never going to guess it; GERMANS. A strong and kind young man, and a very educated lady, and we had an amazing chat about Germany.

I mean, here on the cusps of the German election, where everything can go nuts.

Imagine that.

Anyway, these are kind of the conclusions on the very enlightening and positive debate.

First of all, compared to Denmark, Germany is much bigger and much more divided. This creates a lot of internal debate, to the point, where debate is not anymore and fighting commences.

In Denmark, we have this beautiful tradition that is inherited from Germany, that of Herder and Goethe. The romantic, nationalistic tradition og Grundtvig and the højskole.

While as Germany was corroded intellectually with Nazism, we in Denmark held onto the ideas of romance and democracy.

In other words, were Vikings were interpreted by the SS in Germany, in Denmark they were Arthurian heroes, all strong and romantic.

It’s so beautiful. This has given Denmark a POSITIVE understanding of Danish culture. And definitely not a conquering, expansive version of Denmark. But a beautiful, joyful democratic identity.

This is what Germans needs, to see its heroes in a bright light, without the death and destruction view. A Goethian understanding again, to heal.
