The European Union is at a crossroads. Will it be a vehicle for continued war in Ukraine, or a vehicle for peace.
I know, that I really ruffled a lot of feathers calling for peace in the Ukraine war.
However if you truly look at the war, the victims are the young men who are killed in the war. The devastating situation where families are broken, and the infrastructure is destroyed.
We should be on the side of Ukraine. And yes we should, but forgetting the very cause of the European Union that is that as a peace project is forgetting the problem the Union is supposed to solve.
After the Second World War, Europe was, more or less destroyed.
Now we are supporting a war on the European continent.
Is that really something to do, without some deep reflection?
My point is; yes we should definitely not abandon the Ukrainians in their valiant defense. Yet the AIM of the Union over all is ALSO something to truly consider.
That is why I think we should find a balance between supporting Ukraine and at the same time rebuild our diplomatic connections to Russia.
A cool, sincere, rational voice that sees the human being as sacred and each person as a treasure, is the European way. Lest not forget.
