All right, so the Iranian negotiations have come down to one thing; trust. Neither the Iranian side nor the American side have any trust in each other’s. Because of the war. War breeds distrust.
This my personal experience with the conflict. Obama and I constructed the JCOAPC deal that actually held for quite some time. The Iranians really stuck to it, and upheld the deal, also after the deal was left by Mr. Trump. That is the stability that a one party system gives an administration.
At the American side, Mr. Trump didn’t like the deal, because it gave, in his eyes, too many concessions to the Iranians. A lot of income to the Iranians and a loose framework.
Added to this, the democratic/royal side of the Iranian people sought to ferment a democratic coup, by putting pressure on the Americans. It was fair enough, I am not judging, it’s just how things went down.
So, the Iranian administration feels betrayed, because they thought that the JCPOAC deal was set in stone.
That is just not how a true democracy works. In the US the republicans have the right to revoke what the Democrats made. It’s how a democracy works.
But there should be no incentive for the Americans to revoke a new deal, certainly not in the Democratic camp, where Mr. Newson seems to be leading the fray.
There are no 100% guarantees. But the political landscape seems to veer towards a permanent deal.
However, the problem of the Iranian administration is not really the Americans. They are threatened by internal dissatisfaction. It was the internal dissatisfaction that lead to the war in the first place. That is going to continue and ultimately bring the current administration down, if freedoms and human rights are not more widely distributed.
G-d bless the will of the creator and may he make peace.
