I find it very, very encouraging, that there is, in this deepest hour of despair a sense of hope in the negotiations with Saudi Arabia.
His highness Muḥammad bin Salmān Āl Su‘ūd is a ruler, who has ambitions with his country, that are in alignment with the positive ambition of Israel.
An ambition of prosperity, progress and advancement.
This is what Israel can be, when we get peace, a friend and a possible companion.
What we have to figure out, is how we avoid embarrassing our Arab allies.
When we go on an all other war, and show very little care for our allies, then this is, in the Arab world, quite embarrassing.
When we are at peace, we should be careful and keep that respect and appreciation of our neighbors.
That is how we get from being a start up nation, to being a mature nation. A nation, where we try and be respectful for those around us.
Our friends run a risk of loosing face, if we do not treat people around us with the courtesy and civility that they expect.
I know, that we are incessantly attacked by Hamas, yet WE should mind the image we project to the world. We are living in a connected world, and people notice.
To be good neighbors, to our adjacent nations, we need to start thinking about them as neighbors and try to find a positive way of that.
How do you do that? You do it by outstretching your hand, invite them in for a cup a tea. If they are in need of help when their lights go out, we try and find the switch, with the utmost respect of cause.
Yet this is the difficult balance. At one hand we have to be the exemplary neighbor and at the same time we need to look out for Hamas and other devastating enemies.
G-d bless the will to evolve into the light upon the Nations, and we could start by being a good neighbor.
