Okay, so Mr. Jordan Peterson, have begun to be interested in the extremely geeky subject of Schopenhauer, Nietzsche and German philosophy.
Let me try and explain it, from my point of view, albeit it is, I know, just a perspective and there are many other ways of seeing it.
But, Nietzsche was a good friend of my great grandmothers friend Brandes.
Brandes was a philosopher like me, and he was the editor of a newspaper called Politiken.
Brandes sought to realize the ideas of Nietzsche and Schopenhauer.
He was a libertine before Freud even came along.
BUT my great grandmother, she was a Bible (Torah) thumping leader of the Danish Højskole Vallekilde (the Oxford of Denmark), so she fought the nazies, and tried to inspire with all kinds of religious principles such as enlightenment and humanism. A very special person indeed. She also fought for women’s rights to vote.
Anyway, in my family, we KNOW Nietzsche and his ideas, but we, specifically, have sought to hold on to g-d.
So there is, in other words, this counter trend to Nietzschean philosophy in Denmark.
This also goes back to Kierkegaard and the philosopher Løgstrup, who was a friend of Niels Bohr, and coined the idea of open networks, open source and so on and so forth.
My point is, that as there was a materialistic trend in German and Danish society with Nietzsche, going parallel to this, there was a metaphysical trend that was accepted in the highest scientific circles.
Me as well, I am good friends with the physician Holger Bech Nielsen, who has done a lot of work on genesis theory and nuclear physics, his famous string theory is one of them.
As western culture kind of hit a deep recession, the materialist trends have been countered by metaphysical trends.
But, it’s not so, that we do not know each other and respect each other, as in my family’s case with Nietzsche, it just runs parallel.
G-d bless the will of the creator and may we find peace.
