Ok, Assad has fallen. This is in fact the last dictatorship in the Middle East that held in the face of the Arab spring.
This is my experience with the Arab spring, I have been a motor in it.
First of all, there has to, as fast as possible. Be some kind of power that takes over, and reflect the different ethnicities in the region.
Make sure, that the different factions have each their state.
Not doing anything will make things dissolve into chaos.
So, making a set of state structures around each ethnicity is important.
This can be done through diplomacy between the greater powers in the region.
Russia has already taken initiative to do this, so this is a serious path to go down on.
So, stopping the chaos before it turns the country into a mess is very important.
