One of the worst things of war is dehumanizing.
It is a very human thing, we paint our enemies as evil.
The thing is, we all have a bit of evil in us. That is the truth. Yet, it is mostly, when we fight someone that we SEE as evil that we let this evil out.
We figure, if this person that we fight are evil, then we as well can be evil.
In this way, we become like our enemies.
The left have, since the Second World War, fought nazism. The end result have been, that we seem more and more like nazists.
The wise thing to do in this situation, is to be VERY keen on our own values and virtues. What is it we want to do, how do we see a good behavior and then do this in relation to our enemies.
If our enemies are being abusive, the answer to that is to be better persons and treat other with respect.
If our enemies are destructive, our response should be to be constructive.
Off cause sometimes you have to respond to aggression, you shouldn’t be naive, but when you do that be VERY conscientious on your methods of war.
That is the way you conduct your life, if you need to fight, and yet do not want to loose your soul.
G-d bless the will to be conscientious of method and clear in the goal of making a better world.
